I was reviewing my daily links and ran across this story of a charming vintage American General Store. Out of curiosity, I looked-up the site mentioned in the article that was set-up by the son to increase awareness of the sale. What I found on the site was one of the most charming general stores I have seen in a long time. Take a look at this wonderfully well-kept piece of Americana.

I was doing some surfing in the world of compact solutions to housing decors and ran across several interesting space-saving and multi-function home living ideas. From portable circular kitchens to wall-bed mini-kitchen units or table-beds and counter top with burners-armchairs the ingeniuty behind these ideas is rather impressive.

Happy “Mum’s” Day

I wondered what unusual gifts are available to add a little something “extra” to the annual celebration of the mothers of the world. So I went surfing and found that most of the sites that claimed to have “unique” ideas were not very impressive. However, this British site was the exception and had several distinctively original suggestions for the unusual.

In the Month of May

What do asparagus, eggs, salad, hamburger, strawberries, herbs, raisins, frozen yogurt, chocolate parfaits, raspberry popovers, orange juice, chocolate custard, hoagies, mushrooms, cherry deserts, American beer, and bathroom reading all have in common? Other than if someone ate all those ingredients they would probably have to be doing the reading in the bathroom, these are all objects of celebration in the month of May. The complete listing for the month is somewhat comprehensive and overwhelming. For those who are looking for a reason to celebrate, here are two resources that provide a wide range of information :

I know imitation is supposed to be the greatest form of flattery, but this is just too strange. I’ve always thought imitation showed a lack of creativity. After all, who wants to be just like everyone else?

Natural Feeling

A few days ago I ran across this "natural solution" to all those technological devices that have become a fact of life for many people. Not only does the product provide a more soothing appearance than most of the gadgets we have become accustomed to, It seems to be more environmentally friendly as well.

For those of you who may not have read or heard about it yet, the young lion cub Koza had an ill fated encounter recently. He will be greatly missed. Cairo has found a new home where she will be as needed and loved as she was at the zoo.

In the New’s

Having been married to a musician for over thirty years, I can tell you that the music just HAS to come out. With New Orleans being the home of so many musicians and music styles, I’m not surprised at the continutation of one of the city’s more well-known events, the New Orleans Jazz Fest. It will take more than a blow hard to keep these guys and the city down.
