A Little Bit Sunshine

Finally a little bit of the sun’s rays are beaming down on us. If you look at the monthly weather report, you can see that Spring hasn’t really graced us yet. But every once in a while, we get a magnificent glimpse! And today is one of those days.

Just for the Fun of It

It’s kick-back time and I’ve been surfing the net for more artisitic endeavors. What I found this time was a few photo collections of oddball cars, unusual mini cars, and weird cars. So if you are into unique car art and design, check ’em out.

And the Winner ….

I’ve heard of some whacky awards, but this is one of the whackiest.

It’s in the Air

I’ve mentioned that hubby and I have basically given-up riding hogs because of the increase in traffiic on island. Another pastime that I find a bit ironic is when people jog or get workouts on the skirts of local roads. After all, what one gets is increased lung-loads of car fumes. Well I just heard about this possible solution to all the fumes on BoingBoing. I guess someone could put it in thier backpack and take a few refreshing hits while on the road.

The Green "e" Patch

This weekend many countries around the world will hold various activities in observance of Earth Day. This annual celebration reminds me of the ecology club movement in the early ’70s at high schools around the country. I tried to find an image of the patch that was such a popular part of that era. If I remember correctly, the patch was circular with a green border, a white background, and a large green lowercase "e" in the center. I wonder if they still make that patch?

This and That

I ran across this trivia site that provides info on a wide array of subjects. One of the bonuses of the info is that it is presented in a brief and concise manner while remaining amusing and interesting.

Spring Munchies

A few days back the sun shined brightly as the first Spring butterflies fluttered around our yard. Just a brief reminder to hubby that this is the time to check the folliage on his flowers for signs that any infestations. He has some wonderful blooms that he doesn’t want to be this year’s munchies. At the same time, we enjoy watching the graceful flutterings of the butterflies so we don’t want to use insecticides. The solution we came up with was to remove any infected leaves and place them in potted containers of less valuable plants in another area. This way we save the desired flowering plants; the caterpillars will have a source of munchies to devour; and with any luck we will have a colorful and relaxing yard full of butterflies in a little while.

I love this type of story. If you read closely, he was 45 when he founded the bizz.

Rollin’

All my life I’ve had a semi-love affair with hogs. I guess it stems from an uncle who had me on the back of his bike before I was even five. Growing up, my father usually had a biker coworker who would visit for dinner during the holidays and take us kids for rides. (Poor Dad, Mom just thought the whole bike thing was too risky to allow such a vehicle be a permanent part of our family garage.) Hubby even used to ride. (Now-a-days there just seems to be too much traffic and too many car fumes on island to make it worth the while.) When I do get the chance to visit family, one of the first things that happens is I’m invited to plop on the back of one of my siblings’ hogs and we’re off. With that being said, I just ran across these great pix of an unexpected mix of two iconic institutions.
