If you are a regular to the site, then you know I’ve made a few changes in the past week. Mainly upgrading to the new WordPress 2.0 version. What seems strange about this whole upgrade of all the blogs on the domain is that each blog seems to have reacted differently to the upgrade. Anyway, I am still working on the changes and hopefully will have them completed soon. Thank you for hanging in there with me during the process.

Last night Taki and I had the opportunity to find out what all the fuss over Star Search was.  (Our satellite service finally was able to pick-up the show for the first time in its fifth season.)  I must admit I do like the show.  More than anything else – well other than the unbelievable vocal chords on some of the contestants – the show is extremely entertaining in an amusing way.

Well it’s Sunday, 29 January 2006. That means a new lunar New Year has begun. When I first came to the island in 1973, most of the locals celebrated the occasion. Now, however, the Julian New Year celebrations have taken over. Very few businesses are off for the lunar New year any more. If fact, there isn’t much recoginition of the event at all. But, I can still remember how significant the event was to the local culture and recognize that it is part of their heritage. So here is a Happy New Year of the Dog to everyone.
