Political Correctness?
I came to Okinawa in 1973 and have lived here for most of the past thirty-two years. And although I agree with the need to have consideration for differing opinions, I also believe there must be an understanding of what is just too ridiculous on either side. I found this article in the opinion section and can only hope it is meant to be humorous, because it is one of the funniest things I’ve ever read!
P.S. I’m a redhead and yes we do get it pretty bad while growing up. But let’s get real, the type of people that tease redheads about it would just try to find something else to ridicule if you weren’t.

They were all thoughtful opinions.I when in the MC was often criticized for offering my opinion to much.Too many people I feel never stood up for what they beleived was right. My train of thought was/is if you do nto like what I am saying then don,nt listen,I am just giving you different options to go by.BUT!!! reading some of those comments,Some people today are not offereng there opinion so much as they are just complaining!!!.As a society we seem to be getting weaker.

I think it’s one thing to discuss an opinion and another to take action on it. There is soooo much nonsense in the world today. I think opinions should be heard. But there also needs to be an understanding that not everyone is into the same thing! That’s why I like the news opinions or televised commentaries. I can chose which discussions I consider to be of interest to me and worth my time. One thing that has always turned me off is if a person has to go to negative extremes to be heard. I always felt that if there is a valid argument than the merits of the argument will stand without negative behavior.

Sort of. Say what you want, but remember that if it’s a hollow argument you’re wasting your breath. Negative behavior never changes the merits of an argument.
If there are merits to an argument, negative behavior only alienates those who haven’t quite seen them yet. Whereas, positive behavior strengthens the merits of an argument.
