Hey Dawn I promise I,ll start spelling better!!!.I come in the office with grease on my hands and I just type out a rapid response..I really can spell better then what you see..LOL

No, you’re not going to get me to say that!!! I know better than to wag my tongue in the face of Mom Nature.
And as far as the typing/spelling thing, I guess you’ve never noticed my less than exemplary skills in the art of typing. Living a lifestyle where I didn’t write and seldomly spoke proper English for years on end, has led to decreased skills in those areas. Thank goodness for spell/grammar check programs.

HAHA. At least you know how to use those spell checks I,m still learning!!!.BTW what does every one think about the latest Hurricane?.

Sometimes it’s not the not knowing how, but just not remembering to use the programs that get me in trouble! Do you mean Wilma?
Are you aware that the local water supplies are dependent on the amount of rain the annual typhoons bring? Taki said the local newspaper is reporting that since we have been spared the rain brought by typhoons this year (so far) there is a possibility of water rationing. Ironic given what is happening elsewhere.

Who would of ever thought after our VERY WET Rainy season they,d be talking about water rationing!!.Well Okinawans have a very unique rain dance. It,s called the Awamori dance!! HEHEHE.Lets see if they can drum up some precip..
Comment by Brad Lietha — October 19, 2005 @ 1:56 pm
Yep, the locals sure do like the rain dance. I guess it wouldn’t be a subtropical island without the seemingly non-stop rainy season!

So true Ha!.Right now I,m doing 2 things I like and thats working on bikes and listening to The Guess Who!.Some Okinawan customers think my shop is a bit extreme. As when you look into the Maint area 5% of it is taken up by Speakers,And my Amp and Bass woofer,A bit funny for a bike shop. But hey without it the end product would be a badly maintained bike!! HAHA.

I’ve always had music when I work. I’ve been lucky in that the bosses I had in the past supported that aspect of my character. I can’t imagine doing a job where music isn’t allowed. Anyway, I don’t see having music in the shop as being extreme, just as a positive difference from the normal expectations on island.

Yea you know the expectations Quiet,Not much smiling,Joking around at work..Basically they wait until there work is done to open up..Thats not Bad though,it,s just not my style..One of my Okinawan guys that worked here was WAYYYYYYYY to serious I never could get him to open. It,s just not in their culture much. But like I said not a Bad thing.!I forgot to mention Last Sat night Appin was funny. That one American was giving him praise about 1 meter in front of him while he was playing,Suddenly Appin Gestured with his arm,Like get out of here!!!.It was so funny. So where did he Go??.Over to Taki!!! HAHA

That’s probably why by the time I get them the pinned-up energy gets taken to the extreme. So much for balance in life. Maybe if they’d learn to relax a little more at work, but still do the job, then the after hours life wouldn’t be so full of histrionics.
(BTW I added a spell check to the site. All you need to do is left click above and then on any of the highlighted words. Once you’ve finished the spell check, just return to editing.)

Ok dawn thanks for the spell check..I,ve noticed the Okinawans can get pretty wild or active in the Jet at times. It,s almost funny because I knwo outside of the JET they are very quiet.(Most of them).Do you remember the one American asking Taki to marry him Sat Night??.HAHA…I,ll bet some of the comments never cease to amaze you guys..
Comment by Brad Lietha — October 19, 2005 @ 3:07 pm
That’s just it. We try to keep the place as informal and relaxed as possible, but there always has to be some people out for attention anyway they can get it. And that was funny when the guy asked Taki to marry him. It’s not very often that we get first-time comments. So when we do get good natured one, we get a good laugh out of it.
Comment by JAWjaw — October 19, 2005 @ 3:19 pm
Yea there are other ways to get attention.Doing good deeds for people in need would be one.Or hey what about running a marathon that will get you attention!!!!.But not quite as easy as letting loose at the JET!!!.My form of attention here is.If one wants to get attention he goes by the Shop in a full out wheelie.Like really going fast and in a hurry. Then suddenly he comes back posing as a customer waiting for me to recognize his wheelie.Theirs a bit of deflation going on when I mention nothing about his recent bout with stupidity.

I don’t have the pleasure of just ignoring dumb acts of negative attention seeking. If I do, then the attention seeker usually tries the feat elsewhere by getting in someone else’s face at the club. On occassion that means getting into everyone’s face by pulling dumb stunts like one guy did Friday night.
Comment by JAWjaw — October 19, 2005 @ 3:43 pm
Oh Friday night was a bit testy?..
Comment by Brad Lietha — October 19, 2005 @ 3:44 pm
Friday, in fact most of the weekend, wasn’t too bad. Just some over zealous people who forgot that they were not the only ones at the club.
