Crazy or What!

I click on the TV to catch a glimspe of today’s Olympic events. The first thing I see is “skeleton” runs. Now I really don’t remember ever seeing this event before. I thought luge was just about as bare minimum as it got when it came to “man” challenging the icy speed courses, until today that is. Basically skeleton is luge, but the atheletes are sledding down the course as fast as possible – face first! Big kids having fun in the winter snow.

The Other Koza

The other day I ran across a very adorable “kitten” on Cute Overload (check out thier 12 Feb post under the kittens category). It seems there’s a little Koza over at the San Diego Zoo. You can also view a video of Koza.

This Is Kinda Weird

The very dramatic couples figure skating just finished. What an emotional up and down roller coaster that was. But watching the Tonight Show in the middle of the afternoon, is sooooo weird.

More Oh-lympics

Well I guess it’s just about impossible to get any other blogging done with the Olympics going on.  I really like some of the nicknames such as “The Flying Tomato”.  After watching the luge competition though, I think “The Babe Ruth of Luge” should be changed to “The Human Bullet”  It always amazes me how those competitors can go streaming down the run with no protection.  And what about the ski jumping, that has to be one of the most unnatural sporting positions – falling with your face and body parallel to the ground.    Love the Winter Games, yes I do.

OH-lympics

I finally had a chance to catch some of the ongoing games.  Could there be any more dramatic storylines in the emotional individual ups and downs of these athletes?  All the more reason to admire their ability to overcome those personal distractions and get done what needs to be done.  Good luck all.

The site was unavailable for a while today. That seems to happen every once in a while. If the usual site is unavailable for a lengthy period, please check here (my b-plan site) for further information on the situation. Luckily today’s nonaccess was not too long.

Oh What a Week

Is this a great week or what? First, the Super Bowl, then the Grammys, and starting today the Winter Olympics. For those who are into competitions, this has to be the Granddaddy of weeks. Even for those who are not into competition, viewing some of the best talents in the respective fields is always enjoyable, as long as the participants remain within the “good sportsmanship” realm. Otherwise, it would be just plain nastiness and the worst side of the human character.

Refreshing?

I was having trouble getting through to one of my usual web-stops this morning. So while I waited I took a quick peek at their version of our local weather report. “Broken clouds…59…refreshingly cool.” Maybe I’ve lived on the island too long, but at 59 degrees Farenheit I’m almost freezing my toosh off. One of the things that happens when a person lives in the sub-tropical climate for an extended period of time is the blood thins (or at least that’s what I’ve been told). Cold temperatures are further enhanced by the strong North winds that blow over the island. And given that many of the structures are made of reinforced concrete to ward off the upcoming typhoon season, it begins to feel like I’m in a fridge at this time of year. Of course if one is caught in the pristine piles of white snow mounds, I guess 59 sounds pretty refreshing.

Love of Animals

I was looking at the Flickr photostream of the favorites of a person that took a liking to one of my food pix. Most unexpectedly, one picture in the collection led me to the wonderful photography of a very warm-hearted animal lover that had spent quite a bit of time helping out those who were in such need in the Gulf area after last year’s disasters.

I want to thank exdxbmx for his vote and leading me to danakay’s photo journal of her efforts to remember those innocent victims who were truly in need of a little love and understanding under the direst of circumstances.
