As if on cue, the morning started off with a light brisk shower (maybe to help get those flowers started). By late morning the sun is trying to break through with brilliant golden rays.  This is the exact opposite of the Winter weather trend, when the sun shines brightly in the morning and becomes overcast by early afternoon. The sudden change in weather is a lucky turn of events for the locals, in Japan Spring equinox is an official holiday.
